MAKE A PRINT UNDER THE GOLDIE FISH

Free Print Making workshops Booking essential
Taking inspiration from the exhibition Under the Goldie Fish, Views of Cork from the Collection, participants will make a print to take home. A collaboration between Crawford Art Gallery and Cork Printmakers, the print making workshops will take place at 10am, 12 noon and 2pm. (each session is 2 hours long). No prior experience needed. Children under 10 have to be accompanied by an adult. Not suitable for under 6’s. The event is free but places are limited & conditional to prior booking.
Guided Gallery Tour 2pm
Discover national treasures in the heart of the city! Voyage across 200 years from the historic Canova casts to the art of now.
The tour will last approx. 1 hour.

Art in the doing - Felt making session 2–4pm

‘There is art in the doing’ suggests artist and shepherd Orla Barry, and for her exhibition she will fill a gallery space with sheep’s fleece! Join us for felt ‘doing’ and making during Heritage Week to learn more about felt-making traditions and techniques.
No prior experience needed. Children under 10 have to be accompanied by an adult. Not suitable for under 6’s. The event is free but places are limited & conditional to prior booking.

ORLA BARRY In Conversation
Meet artist and shepherd Orla Barry who will talk about Breaking Rainbows and previous work. With a year’s production of wool generated on her farm and 2 performers, Orla Barry addresses our complex relationship with nature.

Canova Casts 2019 at 1pm
Don't miss out on a chance to see master conservator, Eoghan Daltun, at work on our famed Canova Casts. Eoghan will be giving a talk on Friday, 25 August at 1.00pm about his career and sculpture conservation as part of our Heritage Week programme.
If you can’t make it this time around, you can see Eoghan at work in the gallery over the following week as he continues his work as part of our Conservation of Antique Sculptures Project, 2017. This project has been funded by the Heritage Council.

CITY TOUR UNDER THE GOLDIE FISH 1:30pm

Uncover secrets of our city with Tom Spalding. The tour will begin at the Crawford Art Gallery and will end at Elisabeth Fort, via the Coal Quay and Grand Parade. Not be missed! Comfortable footwear and weather appropriate clothing recommended.
